A palazzo above the Steps
High ceilings, a terrace over the rooftops, and a bar downstairs that remembers your order by night two.
Rome·Florence·Naples
Three cities that explain Italy — taken slowly enough to actually see them.
Most first journeys through Italy are a checklist run at a sprint. This one is the opposite: eight nights across Rome, Florence and Naples, with the connective tissue — the trains, the transfers, the tables — handled so quietly you forget they were ever a question.
You travel between cities by first-class rail or private car through the Val d’Orcia, doors open before official hours, and every guide is someone we would invite to dinner. The triangle is the classic; the way through it is yours alone.
This is a sketch, not a package. Dates, pace, houses and tables all bend around who’s travelling — no two versions of this journey have ever left the studio the same.
Arrive to a palazzo suite above the Spanish Steps. The next two mornings belong to empty rooms: the Sistine Chapel before the doors open, the Forum with an archaeologist who has spent thirty years underneath it. Afternoons drift — Trastevere, a long lunch, a tailor if you like.
North by first-class rail — ninety minutes, prosecco poured. Florence is smaller, denser, and best read through people: an art historian walks you into the Uffizi at opening, then hands you to the Oltrarno — goldbeaters, bookbinders, a workshop that has gilded frames for the Medici chapels since anyone can remember.
The last leg swaps marble for sea light. Naples is visceral — a pizza masterclass at a third-generation oven, the Spaccanapoli at walking pace, Caravaggio where he left it. On the final day, a private launch crosses the bay for a farewell swim and a long lunch facing Vesuvius.
High ceilings, a terrace over the rooftops, and a bar downstairs that remembers your order by night two.
A townhouse room over the river in Florence; a grande-dame suite facing Vesuvius for the last act.
Houses are named in your proposal — we hold allocations at a handful of properties we know room by room.
Private drivers and first-class rail between all three cities — luggage travels without you noticing.
Historians, chefs and artisans we’d invite to dinner — two or three per city, never a script.
Every reservation, entrance and timed slot pre-arranged — you never stand in a line.
One WhatsApp thread, answered by a person in Rome, for anything — from a forgotten charger to a fourth seat at dinner.
A single itinerary designer from first sketch to the flight home — no handovers, no call centres.
Early doors, late closings and off-hours access wherever it can be arranged. Your hours go to Italy, not logistics.
Tell us who’s travelling and what you’d change. A first, itemized proposal comes back within 48 hours — built once, for you.
